Talmadge Gene Statham

Funeral services for Talmadge Gene Statham, 86, of Sperry, OK, were held Friday, April 26, 2019 at Skiatook First Baptist Church in Skiatook, OK. Reverend Wayne Pauley and Pastor Heath Tucker officiated, and burial was in Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor, OK. Casket bearers were Jeff Disher, Dallas Stroud, Steven Stroud, Mark Miller, John Weygandt, and Gary Hutchison. Honorary Casket bearers were Paul Statham, Albert Statham, Allan Statham, Larry Cagle, Tony Cagle, Jack Burton, Roger DeMuth, Don Seawright, and Waylon Turner.

Gene was born September 28, 1932 in Spiro, OK to Talmadge George and Pauline Ilah (Withers) Statham. He passed away April 23, 2019 in Tulsa, OK.

Gene worked for Meadow Gold, Rodeo and Sun Oil. He was an active member of Skiatook First Baptist Church. He previously served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Sperry and he also served as a Deacon at Golden Hills Baptist Church. He diligently prayed for each and every family member. Gene enjoyed camping, RVing, fishing, gardening, football, boating and going on cruises. He always attended all the grandkids and great-grandkids milestones and events – going to their ballgames, pageants, concerts, graduations, weddings, births and birthdays. He is loved and missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Mona (Roper) Statham; daughters, Deborah Burton and husband, Jack, Teresa DeMuth and husband, Roger, and Jeannie Seawright and husband, Don; grandchildren (who called him “Papa”), Jeff and Tina Disher, Dallas and Heather Stroud, Melanie and Mark Miller, Steven Stroud, Trinity and John Weygandt, and Skylar and Waylon Turner; great-grandchildren, Presley Disher, Maddox Miller, Maya Miller, Aubrey Stroud, Lilah Weygandt, Bailey Stroud and Amelia Weygandt; brothers, Paul Statham, Albert Statham and Allan Statham and wife, Phyllis; aunt, Melba Statham; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; extended family, Ellen and Jeff Henderson, Bailey and Drew Henderson; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Talmadge George and Pauline Ilah Statham; brother, Ronald Statham; sister, Patricia Hutchison; and grandparents, George Washington and Myrtle Statham.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
