Obituary

Graveside services for Sonya Evonne Muse, 82, of Broken Arrow, OK were held Friday May 8, 2020 at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, OK.  Pastor Steve Posey officiated. Casket bearers were Michael Muse, John Muse, Philip Gilley III, Matthew Muse, Morgan Paul, and Jeremy Hammons.

Sonya was born April 27, 1938 in Oklahoma City, OK to John Douglas and Mary Frances (Heron) Ozment. She passed away May 5, 2020 in Broken Arrow, OK.

Sonya graduated from Rogers High School, Tulsa, OK in 1956. She married Ronald Muse on July 22, 1956 in Tulsa, OK, and they were married for 59 years until his death in 2015. She was an active member of the Order of Rainbow for Girls, Tulsa Assembly 61. After raising her daughters to be members of the Order of Rainbow for Girls, she served as Mother Advisor for many years for Tulsa Assembly 61. She loved being part of the Order of Rainbow for Girls, so much that she was currently a member of the board for the Mona McNabb Assembly. She was also a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star Catoosa Chapter.

She is survived by her children, Pam Newell of Richardson, TX, Doug Muse and wife, Shelley of Sperry, OK, Paul Muse and wife, Jeanna of Barnsdall, OK, Keith Muse of Broken Arrow, OK and Lisa Gilley and husband, Philip of Broken Arrow, OK; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; brother, John Ozment and wife, Vicki of Fayetteville, AR; sister, Darla Byers of Owasso, OK; sister, Marilyn Loveless and husband, Dan of Collinsville, OK; brother, David Allford and wife, Terra of Wetumka, OK and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Muse; grandson, Paul Timothy Muse; and parents, John and Mary Ozment.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to the Shriner’s Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry, OK.
