Joyce Irene Stephens

Memorial services for Joy Irene (Stephens) Shatto, 67, of Sperry, OK, were held Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Gary Juby and Phillip Johnson officiated.

Joy was born September 21, 1953 in Tulsa, OK, to Lily Faye Dinges. She passed away December 28, 2020 in Tulsa, OK.

Joy believed in Jesus Christ as our Savior. She was her husband, Bobby’s best friend. Joy was an avid OU fanatic and loved reality shows, reading, writing poems, her chocolate and garage sales. She always found a deal at a garage sale. If there was a crossword puzzle, Joy had to work on it.  When she was healthy, Joy also enjoyed going fishing and hunting. Joy also loved interior decorating, and every space needed to have the perfect items. She wore her heart on her sleeve and was so very giving. Joy’s name fit her perfectly.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Shatto of Sperry; children, Michele Hofer and husband, Bobby of Marquette, KS, Brian Peterson of Lindsborg, KS, Wendy DuMars of Kirkville, NY, Amanda Bardwell of Flower Mound, TX, B.J. Shatto of Owasso, OK, and Austin Shatto of Lewisville, TX; grandchildren, Alex Peterson, Tyler Peterson, Xannah Hofer, Ailynn Bardwell, and Jace Bardwell; great-grandchild, Sequioa Fisher; honorary children, Sinclare Leverenz and Nicholas Leverenz; sister, Sandy Carr of Tulsaand many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lily Faye Dinges; parents, Bill and Lorraine Carr; aunt, Shirley Myers; and father-in-law, Alvin Shatto.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
