Obituary

Funeral services for Franklin Dean “Frank” Kendall, 86, of Sperry, OK, were held Friday, September 10, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Sperry, OK. Reverend Rick Kester officiated, and burial was in Sandridge Cemetery in Collinsville, OK. Casket bearers were Joe Bob Ramsey, Brandon Williams, Doug Dickinson, Steve Rush, Kendall Ramsey, and Charlie Stewart. Honorary Casket bearers were Gene Austin and Buddy Sherrill.

Frank was born January 15, 1935, in Dustin, OK, to Harry Malcolm and Beulah Lee (Henry) Kendall. He passed away September 5, 2021, in Sperry, OK.

Frank grew up on a farm in Dustin, OK. He was just a good old country boy his whole life. He graduated from high school in Wetumka, OK. Frank’s hobbies as a child on the farm included hunting, fishing, and riding his horse. He later moved from the farm to Tulsa and found the love of his life, Mary Belle Dennison and she was the love of our lives as well. They were married and had three daughters. Frank and Mary Belle were together for 33 years until her passing. They are now together again and catching up, Praise the Lord!

As a young adult, Frank enjoyed racing cars with his brother-in-law, George Walter Dennison. Then Frank became involved with his family in the Quarterback Club while his children were growing up. Later in life, Frank moved onto his grandchildren’s, Jill and Brandon Williams’ ranch and was Brandon’s right-hand ranch-hand, taking care of the cattle and other miscellaneous jobs.  When Frank became ill, he moved in with his daughter, Jaquetta and then later on with his daughter, Joanna, where he lived for the past 8 years until he passed away at home, which was Frank’s wish.  His grandson, Joe Bob, bought a cattle ranch and he would take Frank with him. That was the highlight of Frank’s life. He looked forward to going with Joe Bob, even though he couldn’t help much but to be the boss!

Frank also loved going to the Knights of The Round Table at the Sperry Diner where he would get all of the Sperry news. Frank retired as a maintenance man for the Marina Apartments complex in Tulsa. He was always a very hard worker and had the best work ethic. Frank was quite the handyman and could fix almost anything (Not to say without a few tempered flare ups!). Frank loved visiting with his family and friends, especially when his grandson, Doug, from Dallas would call or come and visit him. Frank would talk about those visits for several days.  He was always asking about his granddaughter, Dawn, whom he referred to as “Baby Girl”, and her family and what would be going on in their lives. He also enjoyed spending time with Brooke and enjoyed her company while she was in town. Frank really loved seeing all of his little great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Frank would see them drive up and call and say, “Bring them babies over here!” He was his family’s security guard and knew every move on the property. Frank also loved his dog, Chief, who was his companion for the last years of his life. Frank enjoyed raising chickens. Aunt Charlene and Aunt Sammie never knew a time when Frank did not have chickens at the farm. We will miss him a lot!!

He is survived by his daughters, Joanna Ramsey and husband, Bill, and Jaquetta Hinton and husband, Carl; grandchildren, Joe Bob Ramsey, Kendall Ramsey, Jill Williams and husband, Brandon, Doug Dickinson, Dawn Rush and husband, Steve, and Brooke Chupp and husband, Jessie; great-grandchildren and their spouses; 4 great-great grandchildren; close friend, Margie Kendall; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Beulah Kendall; wife, Mary Belle Kendall; daughter, Lisa Marguerite Kendall; and close friend, Jeannie Crain.

Joanna and Jaquetta would like to thank family and friends that helped out during the last few months of Frank’s life. A special recognition goes to his grandsons, Kelton Ramsey and Kendall Ramsey, and to Tanya Carr for being at his beckon call. Thank you everyone for attending today.
