Funeral services for Charles Everett “Charlie” Turner, 85, of Sperry, OK, were held Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Sperry Christian Church in Sperry, OK. Reverend Dustin Bowden and Reverend Greg Aery officiated, and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Caleb Turner, Douglas Arns, Wesley Tennyson, Leslie Turner, Kenneth D. Turner and Karl Turner. Honorary Casket bearers were Ray Roberts, Tray Roberts, Dan Breedlove, Jim Turner, William Overby, Floyd Caseboldt, Dylan Scott, and Dennis Cooper.
Charlie was born March 23, 1935 in Westville, OK, to Ted and Mildred (Holland) Turner. He passed away February 15, 2021 in Sperry, OK.
Charlie owned and operated Turner Manufacturing and Fabrication, Turner Body and Sperry Sheet Metal Shop. He attended the Lewis Avenue Freewill Baptist Church. Charlie loved going to dirt races. Charlie was a vicious chess player and enjoyed beating his grandson, Caleb at a game.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Roberts; sons, Kenny D. Turner, Karl Turner, and Keith Turner; daughter, Karel Tennyson; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; stepdaughters, Rhonda Roberts, Kathy Cooper, Melinda Caseboldt, Marea Breedlove and Jeanien Rutherford; stepsons, Douglas Arns, Ray Roberts, and Kenny L. Turner; brother, Jim Turner; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Charles David Turner; daughter, Karla Christy; grandson, Ezekiel “Zeke” Tennyson; parents, Ted and Mildred Turner; and brothers, Amos Turner, Otis Turner, and Raymond Turner.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
