Funeral services for Charles H. Merchant, 90, of Jenks, OK, were held Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Reverend Rick Kester officiated, and burial was in Hillside Mission Cemetery in Skiatook, OK. Casket bearers were Dale Merchant, Clint Morgan, Dawson O’Hara, Roger Lierley, Eli Abod, and Bryan Allen.
Charles was born March 28, 1931, in Glenpool, OK to William Hubbard Merchant and Vera (Boston) Vaughn. He passed away September 7, 2021, in Tulsa, OK.
Charles was an honorably discharged line mechanic of the U.S. Air Force. He was a welder and pipefitter and retired from the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 430 union in Tulsa and received his 45-year pin at his last Christmas retirement party.
He is survived by his son, Dewayne Merchant and wife, Brenda of Beggs; daughters, Denora Morgan and husband, Mike of Glenpool, and Janice Fisher of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Tracy Brown of Tulsa, Dale Merchant of Glenpool, Clint Morgan of Mounds, Lindsay (Merchant) Stroud of Sapulpa, Courtney Morgan of Tulsa, and Briana Merchant of Scottsdale, AZ; great-granddaughter, Kimber Morgan of Mounds; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elnora Merchant; children, Carol Brown and Roger Merchant; grandchild, Reece Merchant; parents, Hubbard Merchant and Vero Vaughn; and brothers, Ronald Merchant and Keater Merchant.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
