Carolyn was born February 6, 1944 in Eufaula, OK to G.W. and Gussie (Ingle) Gray. She passed away August 3, 2019 in Sperry, OK.

Carolyn’s first priority was taking care of her family and being a devoted, wife, mother and grandmother. She was an original first garage queen, if there was a garage sale open, she was there. Although she wasn’t looking for herself, but those important in her life. She was always thinking of and putting others before herself. That is just how she was. Carolyn loved her husband, Leon and was completely devoted to making sure he was loved and taken care of. She loved baseball and was a huge Sperry baseball supporter. It brought her so much happiness to watch her sons play. It didn’t matter what her children were involved in, she was involved also. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Later in her children’s lives, Carolyn held various positions during her 28 years at the McFarlin Library at The University of Tulsa. When Carolyn wasn’t working or taking care of her family, she enjoyed gardening, quilting and sewing, and watching her favorite shows, Gunsmoke, The Virginian, and Walker, Texas Ranger. During her retirement, Carolyn and Leon would set up a booth at the Antique Depot in Skiatook and the Flea Market in Tulsa. Last Thanksgiving, even though she was not feeling well, Carolyn made her children roll her into the kitchen in her wheelchair so that she could help out and show them how to make her cornbread dressing. Carolyn will always be remembered by all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 57 years, Leon Hammontree of the home; sons, Jeffrey Hammontree and wife, Sally, of Skiatook, OK, and Jeremy Hammontree and wife, Desiree, of Salina, OK; daughter, Jennifer McKerley and husband, Tim, of Sperry, OK; grandchildren, Lindsey Baggett of Sperry, OK, Katibeth Dorris of Mannford, OK, Leah Dollar of Stillwater, OK, Audrey Linden of Owasso, OK, Morgan Hammontree of Meeker, OK, and Samuel Hammontree of Skiatook, OK; great-grandchildren, Alena Deerinwater, Caroline Dorris, Ajay Baggett, and Charlie Dorris; brothers, G.C.
