Yvonna Faye (Willis) Fleming

Funeral services for Yvonna Faye (Willis) Fleming, 71, of Skiatook, OK, were held Monday, November 20, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Reverend Dan Jackson officiated, and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Mike Turley, Michael Turley, BJ Alcorn, Bill Keeton, Chad Young, and Dustin Jackson.

Yvonna was born June 28, 1952, in Red Oak, OK, to Chester Arthur Willis and Joyce Bell (Coffey) Willis. She passed away November 13, 2023, in Skiatook, OK.

Yvonna was married to James Fleming for 36 years. They were not only soul mates, but best friends and lovers. The romance between them was strong for all the years they were together. They enjoyed dancing, camping, traveling, and most of all having fun. Their life together is such a great example to us all of how to live life to the fullest regardless of what challenges you are facing. Her greatest love was her family. She was always very close to all her siblings; and in recent years, she and Claude Wayne were the best of friends. Yvonna had 2 children by birth and 2 by marriage. However, in her eyes they were all the same. All 4 were her kids. She loved children regardless of who’s they were. If there were children near, she would play with them and most likely on the floor. As a family there were many years of Sunday afternoon car rides, camping trips, riding motorcycles, playing in the yard, and playing “airplane” and being flipped over by her legs in the living room floor. Yvonna had a small group of ladies whom she “did life” with for many years. Her cousin, Claudia and friends Zelda, Denise, and Phyllis were her girls. They not only travelled together and had loads of fun together, but they were there for each other through every high and every low. Sherry and Susie, who are her nieces, were also very special to her. She loved playing board games and any activity that brought the family and friends together and created an atmosphere of fun and laughter. She loved watching old black and white western movies, especially John Wayne. She was a great cook and anyone who was lucky enough to eat her cooking would walk away not only with a full stomach but a feeling of being welcome at her table. No one can make homemade biscuits and sausage gravy like her. You will never meet anyone who was as hard a worker as she was. Yvonna held many physically demanding jobs over the years from waitressing, landscape work, school bus driver, school cafeteria worker, Walmart’s deli department, and most recently providing medical transportation for those in need.

She is now an angel in heaven watching over us all. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her children, Larry Fleming, Sandy Russell and husband Danny, Michael Turley and wife, Melody, and Christy Doshier and husband Fred; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Claude Wayne Willis; and many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Fleming; granddaughter, Shelby Doshier; parents, Chester and Joyce Willis; sister, Betty Maxwell; and brothers, Eugene Willis, and James “PeeWee” Willis.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
