Family arranged services to be held. Please contact the family for additional details.

William Eugene “Bill” Bennett, 93, of Claremore, OK, was born April 14, 1932, in Sperry, OK, to Alfred Gabe Bennett and Vivian Arlene (Sigars) Wilson. Bill left this world to be with his love, Annie, on November 26, 2025, in Tulsa, OK.

Bill lived a long and happy life. Throughout his youth, Bill was a mischievous boy, he went skinny dipping in the creek with his friends, tormented his sister, changed the oil in his car with his mom’s favorite terracotta bean pot, hooking a hotwire up to the same car to shock people that leaned on her fenders, and hanging out with his friends. When Bill met Anna Lee Poore, he knew that she was the love of his life, and they were married on May 29, 1952. During their first years as a family, Bill enlisted in the Army with the 1st Cavalry as a lineman. He was stationed in Japan but was shipped back and forth between Japan and Korea, where he laid and repaired communication lines. During this time, Bill’s orneriness got him in trouble when he started the deuce and a half he drove in a reek with the hood up, throwing water all over his commander. During his time in Japan, Bill bought Annie pearls, and fine China, sending them home with his paycheck. Bill was also a Ham radio operator. After Bill’s return to civilian life, he worked for the phone company laying line, the city of Skiatook as a lineman, as a volunteer firefighter for Skiatook, working his way up to deputy, then fire chief. Bill was also an electrician for the foundry in Tulsa, American Airlines, and the fertilizer plant in Pryor. Bill and Annie grew their family with the birth of their daughter, Kimberly, and the birth of their son, Joel a few years later. Bill was a member of the American Legion for 59 years, something he was proud of his entire life. Bill loved to fish and enjoyed taking several trips to Canada to go fishing his son and other friends. He also enjoyed tinkering with anything and everything. Bill and Annie united in marriage for 60 years before her passing in 2012. With the passing of his one love, Bill moved to Kansas City, KS to be with his daughter, Kim and son-in-law, Richard. This was perfect for a die-hard Chiefs fan. Later in life, Bill moved to Claremore, OK to be near his granddaughter, Brandi and her family.

He is survived by his granddaughter, Brandi Jean and husband, Cory; great-grandchildren, Kyle Jeans and Tyler Jeans; son-in-law, Richard Failla; brother-in-law, Lee Bower; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Bennett; son, Joel Bennett; daughter, Kimberly Failla; granddaughter, Molly Failla; parents, Alfred Bennett and Vivian Wilson; sister, Betty Bower; and daughter-in-law, Teresa Bennett.

During the last five years, Bill was lovingly cared for by his granddaughter, Brandi, his grandsons, Kyle and Tyler, and the entire staff at the Courtyards in Claremore. He will be truly missed by all that knew him.

Arrangements were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
