Troy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his family. He was a lifelong enthusiast of classic cars and was known for his sentimental heart, strong opinions, and deep compassion for both people and animals. He had a special place in his heart for rescue animals, sharing his home with a beloved mutt named Luna and an Akita named Loki. He volunteered regularly at the local food bank and was always ready to lend a helping hand. One of his greatest joys in recent years was watching his grandsons play football, cheering them on with pride and excitement. His faith was central to his life. In 2017, he became an ordained minister and later began pursuing a degree in sociology, driven by a desire to better serve those in need.
He is survived by his wife, Kate; children, Kayla Simmermacher and husband, Joshua, and Ashton Nikolayev and husband, Igor; grandchildren, Brantley Simmermacher and Remington Simmermacker; mother, Marilyn Watts; brother and best friend, Steve Brown; and many other relatives and friends.
