Funeral services for Thomas LeRoy Lentz, 69, of Collinsville, OK, were held Friday, August 2, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Phil Johnson officiated, and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Tyler Lentz, Ethan Sproles, Chaz Bullock, Austin Lentz, Christopher Jade Lentz, Aiden Miller, Henry Barrientos, and Tommy Barrientos. Honorary Casket bearers were BJ Lentz, Bobby Lentz, James Sproles and David Cantrel.
At the age of 69, LeRoy peacefully passed away on July 28, 2024, with his sisters, nieces, daughters, and grandchildren lovingly by his side. On December 2, 1954, LeRoy was born the middle child.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Lentz, who died February 4, 2015, and his mother, Ann Lentz, who passed away on January 6, 2006.
LeRoy is survived by his two sisters, Donna, who was born January of the same year LeRoy was born, then Patsy, who was born 9 years later, who is still considered to be the “baby” of the family. LeRoy was the father to eight children: Jamie, Billy Joe, Bobby, twin girls Misty and Cristy, Ashley, Summer, and Amber, who gave him several wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren along with being survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
LeRoy had an enormous heart; he was very kind with a wonderful sense of humor. With only a 9th grade education, LeRoy was clever and full to the brim with knowledge he had gained through his life experiences of being a mechanic, carpenter, and salesman – he could fix or build anything, and could also sell anything to anyone with his smooth-talking salesman attitude. LeRoy owned his own furniture store, Next to New, for about 17 years. He never missed a sale. One time he sold a coffee table set that was not in very good shape, but he managed to sell those tables to a lady after he told her “All it needs is some black spray paint and they will look as good as new;” and she said “Really! I will take it!” Of course, he didn’t try to swindle his customers, not even that lady. His only goal was to make a sale and he was very good at it. LeRoy was also very competitive in everything he did. He refused to let anyone win as he mastered every game he had ever played. His most accomplished game and his greatest passion was the game of pool. In the beginning of his pool career, after only playing for a few weeks, he mastered the game and went on to become one of Tulsa’s top professional pool players.
He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his family and his friends. He truly loved each of them. If you knew him, you knew you were loved. He will be missed dearly. Memories of LeRoy will hold a special place in all our hearts.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
