Funeral services for Thelma Maxine(Wood) Queen, 93, of Sperry, were on Monday, March 31, 2008, in the First Baptist Church in Sperry,
The Rev. Andy Anquoe officiated and burial was in the Rest Haven Cemetery at Sperry, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home in Sperry. Pallbearers were Don Queen, Jr., Jim Queen, Greg Queen, Charles Queen, Steve Sager, Robert Sager, Sam Sager, John Queen, Mitch Hughes, Matt Hughes, Michael Queen, Stephen Queen and Andy Queen,
She was born on March 2, 1915, in Iconiam, Mo., to Riddley Thomas and Bertha Arlene (Parson) Wood. She passed away on March 27, 2008.
She received her GED at the age of 66. She got her driver's license after her husband died and continued to drive until she was 90.
She cooked at numerous Boy Scout and youth camps. She served as a Tulsa County precinct election official for many years and was the oldest serving officer through 2007.
She cooked at Falls Creek for more than 10 years.
She was a Sunday School teacher for about 50 years. She loved and supported WMU her entire Christian life.She is survived by daughters, Rebecca Sager and husband Bob of Sugarland, Texas, and Martha Hughes and husband Buryl of Sperry; sons, Don Queen and wife Mildred of Sperry, Phillip Queen and wife Jeanne of Port Dover, Ontario, Canada. and Marc Queen and wife Cathy of Sperry; 20 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Jack Queen in 1960; infant son, James Queen in 1941; son, Jerry Queen in 1998; granddaughter, Teresa in 2005; parents, Riddley and Bertha Wood; brothers, Charlie Wood, Arlie Wood and Ray Wood; and sister, Mildred Wood Logston.
