A Celebration of Life service will be held, Sunday, October 8, 2023, 4 PM - 7 PM at Squirrel Hollow Golf Course, in Battle Creek, MI.

Steve was born January 4, 1939, in Stockton Springs, ME, to Harold Keyes Perkins and Rebecca (Hathaway) Perkins. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children on September 18, 2023, in Tulsa, OK.

Steve was the “favorite baby brother”. He joined the Air Force right out of high school and loved his time as a radio operator in Germany. After returning home, he started his journey following his big sister, Ann Marie Avery around the United States. In Oklahoma, Steve met the love of his life, Rose Lea Washington. Steve and Rose later married and instantly became a father to Bobby Joe and Michael Ray. They quickly added to their family with Harold Courtney Perkins. Their family was then blessed with a red-headed little girl, Toni Lynn. Finally, the last child to complete their family was Rebecca Ann.

Steve and the family then moved to Michigan, where he called home for most of his adult life. He met many friends, coworkers, and family along the way. Steve enjoyed golf, nights at the Moonrakers, trips to Vegas, and spending time with his family. After retirement, Steve enjoyed golfing, which he would say “I am going to “work”.”. He also enjoyed casino trips in which he called “therapy”. Steve was loved by all who knew him, especially his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is survived by his children, Michael Ray Stanley, Harold Courtney Perkins, Toni Lynn Brock and husband, Matthew, and Rebecca Ann Perkins; grandchildren, Stephanie Johnston, Jennifer Rocho, Shane Landsberry, Stephen “Keith” Perkins and wife, Elizabeth, Leah Perkins, Brandon Perkins and wife, Summer, Alyssa Broughton and husband, Travis, Patrick Mayo and wife, Taylor, and Zachary Hummel and wife, Sarah; 13 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Joe Stanley, Jr.; grandson, Matthew Louis Rocho, Jr.; parents, Harold and Rebecca Perkins; sister, Ann Avery; brothers, Roger Perkins and Peter Perkins.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
