Ronnie Robert Thompson, Sr.

Funeral services for Ronnie Robert Thompson, Sr., 78, of Barnsdall, OK, were held Monday, June 30, 2025, at Barnsdall Assembly of God in Barnsdall, OK. Pastor Rick Loggins officiated, and burial was in Ethel Reece Cemetery in Barnsdall, OK. Casket bearers were James Collins, Dakota Collins, Kameron Thompson, Kyle Thompson, Ethan Thompson and Stephen Farrell. Honorary Casket bearers were Merrich Keller.

Ronnie was born June 28, 1946, in Steelville, MO, to Otis Thompson and Blanche Valene (Turnbough) Thompson. He passed away June 25, 2025, in Bartlesville, OK.

Ronnie spent his early years logging alongside his father and brothers. That hardworking ethic would carry through the rest of his life. Ronnie hit the open road as an over-the-road truck driver for more than two decades and was known to fellow drivers by his CB handle, “Sidewinder.” He concluded his working years as a concrete-mixer operator. In his younger years, Ronnie had a love for classic cars. He was known for street racing his ‘53, ‘55, and ‘57 Bel Airs - though he never raced for pink slips. He was known for his reputation of impeccable timing off the light.

A true outdoorsman, Ronnie enjoyed deer hunting and spent countless summer nights fishing for catfish, or really anything that would bite. He also had a great love of gardening, often showing off his watermelons and tomatoes. When he wasn't outside, he could be found playing computer games or reading one of the many Louis L’Amour novels he treasured and proudly read the entire collection. Breakfast for Ronnie wasn’t complete without biscuits and gravy with sausage and a hot cup of coffee or a Diet Pepsi. He was a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins, and St. Louis Cardinals, and cheered them on every chance he had. Ronnie had an ornery sense of humor, something he happily passed down to his children. He loved nothing more than time spent with family – whether it be grilling out, sitting on the porch chatting, or playing checkers with his grandchildren.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his wit, his stories, his generous heart, and the simple joys he found in the world around him.

He is survived by his daughter, Sara Lynn Thompson and wife, Lukendra Lockhart of Vandalia, MO; son, Ronnie Robert Thompson, Jr. and wife, Barbara of Metamora, IL; daughter, Carrie Ann Keller of Bloomington, IL; daughter, Carrie Lynn Farrell and husband, Stephen of Barnsdall; son, Jonathan Dallas Thompson and wife, Alicia of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren; Carlisha Flowers, Shanna Flowers, Taliya Thompson, Kiya Flowers, Rhea Keller, Merrich Keller, Jackie Colburn, Jessica Herren, Kyle Thompson, Taylor Collins, James Collins, Dakota Collins, Savannah Farrell, Kassandra “Kassy” Farrell, Sydney “Bee” Farrell, Kameron Thompson, Ethan Thompson; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cyrena Ann (Kiblinger) Thompson; second wife, Paulette Elaine (Garrett) Thompson; infant son, Joseph Ryan Thompson; parents, Otis and Blanche Thompson; brothers, Winifred Lindle Thompson, and Randy Eugene Thompson; sister, Beverly Delores Bishop; and infant sister, Mary Lou Thompson.
