Funeral services for Rita Faye Sam, 66, of Skiatook, OK, were held Monday, January 19, 2026, at Ascension Church in Skiatook, OK. Pastor Jerald Freeman officiated. Casket bearers were Dennis Charles Sam, Christopher Lee Hunter, Devin Tyler Sam, Jim Edward Lee, III, Cody Ryan Shiley and Ryan Jefferson McQuay.
Rita was born March 11, 1959, in Siloam Springs, AR, to Charles Sam, Jr. and Alta Mae (Morris) Sam. She passed away January 12, 2026, in Tulsa, OK.
Rita worked as a fruit peddler for many years until she went on to become a CNA/CMA for 40 years. She loved having a great time and just having fun while making people laugh. She enjoyed coloring and working on various arts and crafts projects and being outdoors. Most of all, Rita loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, her family and her beloved kitty cats.
She is survived by her children, Dennis Charles Sam of Skiatook, Tallulah Nicole Shiley and husband, Cody of Shubert, NE, and; grandkids, Charlee Joe Shiley of Shubert, NE and Devin Tyler Sam of Tulsa; siblings, Davis Charles Sam of Sperry, Troy Lynn Sam of Skiatook, Sandra Elaine Hewitt and husband, Andy of Sperry, and Tammy Sue Hunter of Sperry; nieces and nephews, Christopher Hunter and wife, DeAnn of Skiatook, Andrea Nichole Hewitt of Tulsa, and Melissa Jo Sam of Skiatook and Allie Jacklyn of Tulsa; great-nieces, Sephyra Mae Hunter of Skiatook; great-nephew, Irah Israel Isaac Robles; aunt, Beverly Thompson of Skiatook; uncle, Troy Wade of Sperry; numerous cousins; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Dale “Bull” Sam; parents, Charley and Alta Sam; aunts, Allie Harris, Alma Hutchins, Cloma Shelton and Elizabeth Wade; and uncles, Burnadean Hutchins, Jack Harris, and Billy Sam.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
