Richard Allen Williams, Jr.

Memorial services for Richard Allen “Rick” Williams, Jr., 77, of Adair, OK, were held Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Honorary Casket bearers were Brad Kerr, Lane Williams, Logan Miller and Patrick Dobry.

Rick was born June 8, 1946, in Tulsa, OK, to Richard Allen Williams, Sr. and Esther Ann (Buthod) Jones. He passed away January 7, 2024, in Adair, OK.

Rick completed his education at Skiatook Public Schools and graduated in May of 1964. Following graduation, he embarked on a professional journey as a mechanic, utilizing his expertise with the Buzzard Chevrolet, Okmar Oil, and Lee C. Moore companies. Rick was a member of First Baptist Church of Skiatook, where he was saved and baptized in June of 1966. Parallel to his mechanical endeavors, Rick decided to venture into the world of rodeo, initially engaging in bareback horse and bull riding during his amateur career. Along the way, he taught himself the art of flying. Also, in June of 1966, Rick earned membership in the Southwest Cowboys Association, eventually focusing solely on bull riding. Rick's dedication led him to soar to great heights, securing the win of the Southwest Championship Rodeo in 1970, 1973, and 1975. On September 5, 1967, while also working as a mechanic and pursuing his rodeo dreams, Rick embraced another new career path as a firefighter with the Tulsa Fire Department, steadily climbing the ranks to become a Fire Equipment Operator. After 21 years of unwavering service, he retired on March 31, 1988. While working as a firefighter, Rick relocated to Adair, OK in 1977 where he took ownership of the Williams Farm. This became a source of immense pride for him and his family. While operating the farm, they cultivated and sold organic vegetables to the local community, alongside raising cattle, chickens, and pigs. The Williams Farm stood as a testament to Rick's dedication and agricultural accomplishments.

He is survived by his 5 children, Bobbi Jo Kerr and husband, Kevin of Skiatook, OK, Robyn Williams of Sand Springs, Richard Allen Williams III and Robyn Campbell of Skiatook, Robert William Miller and wife, Melissa of Fairview, TN, and Rhonnie Miller and Janie Whithead of Waianae, Hawaii; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Alice (Williams) Krauser of Adair; brother, Robert Stanley Williams of Skiatook; and many other relatives and friends.
