Melissa René Hardie, a beloved free spirit known for her infectious laughter and artistic talents, passed away on June 4, 2026, in Tulsa, OK at the age of 31 years, 8 months, 25 days. Born on September 10, 1994, in Tulsa, Melissa lived a life marked by creativity, dedication, and an enduring love for those around her.
Melissa held several positions in retail and as a cashier over the years, demonstrating a strong work ethic until she recently completed her education in Warehouse Management. Beyond her professional pursuits, she was artistically gifted, finding joy and fulfillment in putting pencil to paper. Her creativity was a defining feature of her personality, one that captivated the hearts of many. Her laughter, a sound like no other—left an indelible mark on all who knew her and will be fondly remembered by family, friends, and loved ones. Melissa's spirit radiated warmth and freedom, a testament to the vibrant life she led.
She is survived by her cherished children, Sage Mungia, Elijah Mungia, Kai Mungia, and DJ Ewell; her devoted parents, Dennis Dale of Greeley, CO, and Shelly Stipo and her husband, Keith of Tulsa; her siblings, Alesha Hardie-Rau, Casey Rau, Missy Padilla of Greeley, CO, and Anthony Padilla of Eaton, CO. Melissa’s enduring bond with her grandfather, Jim Hardie of Tulsa also brought comfort and strength. Her extended family includes adored nieces, Ruby, Rosey, and Rena Rau, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who treasured her presence in their lives. Melissa’s lifelong friendships with Elani Gina, Courtney Cox, and Stacia Walker were a source of lasting joy and support and many other relatives and friends.
Melissa was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mickey Shannon; her pawpaw, Montie Shannon; her grandma, Norma Smith; her grandpa, Keith Smith; and her uncle, James Hardie.
A memorial service celebrating Melissa’s life was held on June 12, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK, with Phil Johnson officiating. Honorary casket bearers were Casey Rau, Stacia Walker, Zac Mungia, Courtney Cox, Elani Ging, and Desiree Figurelli.
Melissa' s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her—a free spirit whose light continues to shine brightly.
