Funeral services for Mavis Ladine (Fortney) Redeagle, 81, of Pawhuska, OK, were held Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska, OK. Reverend Emmanuel Nduka officiated, and burial was in Nelagoney Cemetery in Nelagoney, OK. Casket bearers were Christopher McClary, Braxton Redeagle, Cody McClary, Chandler Glendenning, Chris Redeagle II, Cade Rector-Redeagle, Treyton Rector Redeagle, and Zachary Redeagle. Honorary Casket bearers were Britton Redeagle, Paul Pappas, David McClary, and David Huddleston.

Mavis was born March 15, 1943, in Pawhuska, OK, to James Otis Fortney and Irene Jeannette (Smith) Fortney. She passed away April 8, 2024, in Muskogee, OK.

Mavis was a housewife, staying home with her children and grandchildren and taking care of her home. She enjoyed reading, scrolling through Facebook, and playing Bubble Witch Saga 2 in which she was over level 1000. Mavis was fond of Johnny Cash, and Conway Twitty, but she loved Loretta Lynn and was known to sing her songs. She also loved listening to Go Rest High On That Mountain by Vince Gill and Patty Loveless, as well as Seven Spanish Angels. When the kids were babies, well all babies really, got to hear her sing a song she made up called, I Got A Baby. She really liked to sing and likened herself to Loretta Lynn and had a whole lot of her music and had been to a concert or two of Loretta’s. 

She is survived by her husband, Charles Redeagle; daughter, Cindy McClary and husband, David; sons, Chris Redeagle, Creighton Redeagle and wife, Karen, and Courtney Redeagle; grandchildren Ashley Williams, Christopher McClary, Cody McClary and wife, Ali, Britton Redeagle, Braxton Redeagle and wife, Lauren, Tiffanie Brown, Chris Redeagle II and wife, Fallon, Breanna Beshear and husband, Matt, Cade Rector Redeagle, Treyton Rector Redeagle and Zachary Redeagle; great-grandchildren, Chandler Glendenning, Haileigh McClary, Cambrie McClary, Chloe McClary, Landon McClary, Ruth Redeagle, Jake Beshear, Marley Beshear, Allison Brown, Hayden Brown, Carly Redeagle, Jenny Lynn, Titus Redeagle, Bronson Redeagle, Lennox Redeagle, Lorelai Redeagle, Sawyer Redeagle, and baby boy Redeagle; great-great-grandchildren, Sahmir McClary, baby McClary Williams (due in August); brothers, Lonnie Fortney and wife, Flo, David Fortney and wife, Charlotte, Darwin Fortney, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Irene Fortney; great-grandchild, Rhonda Beshear; brothers, Leo Merchant, Harry Merchant, James Fortney, Jr., and Lincoln Fortney; sisters, Lillie Fortney, LouAnn Washington, Dorthy Hope, Mary Jones, Billie Redeagle, Jean Meek, Nancy Pendland, Edith Miller, Madelyn Niblack and Edna Biggs.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
