Matthew James Hendrix

Airman First Class Matthew James Hendrix, 24, passed away on June 8, 2026, at Fort Meade, MD. Born on April 16, 2002, in Jacksonville, Florida, Matthew's life was marked by both service and a passionate embrace of the world around him.

Matthew served as an All-Source Analyst in the United States Air Force, stationed at Fort George G. Meade Air Force Base, in Fort Meade, MD. His dedication to his country was matched by his zest for life during the past three years, a period in which he truly did a lot of living. A man of many interests, Matthew loved to cook and was known for reaching out to various resources in search of new recipes and culinary advice. His enthusiasm extended beyond the kitchen; he had a fondness for motorcycles and found joy in playing video games, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. These pursuits reflected his spirited personality and love for adventure. Matthew’s spiritual life included attending the Union Church, and his faith was a source of strength and comfort. Among his proudest accomplishments was the deep love he held for his wife, Diana Roark, who meant more to him than anything else in the world.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Diana Roark; his father, Eric Hendrix and bonus mom, Charity Katon; his sisters, Janene Hendrix and Kally Smith; and his brother, Joey Katon. He also leaves behind his grandfather, Sonny Hendrix; aunt, Wendy Barnes; uncle, Shane Barnes; as well as many other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Waltz, and grandmother, Mary Hendrix.

A memorial service was held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Shelter Free Will Baptist Church, in Collinsville, OK, with Ronnie Thompson officiating.

Matthew’s life, though brief, was filled with love, service, and a vibrant spirit that touched those around him. He will be remembered with great respect and heartfelt affection.
