Marvin was born July 4, 1955, in Columbus, GA, to Marvin Foster Pece, Sr. and Ernestine Beatrice (Cook) Russell. He passed away December 12, 2025, in Owasso, OK.
Marvin attended elementary school in Fordland, MO, and graduated from Sand Springs High School in 1974. Growing up in rural Missouri shaped much of who he was. He loved hunting, fishing, and the simple joys of country life.
In January of 1976, he met the love of his life. After just two dates, he knew she was the one and asked her to marry him. She told him she needed to think about it—but four short months later, on May 7, 1976, they were married. Six months into their marriage, Marvin underwent a surgery that forever changed their lives. A year later, they welcomed their baby girl, and just sixteen months after that, their “favorite son” – the sunshine of their lives – was born.
Life brought its share of challenges. Both faced many health issues over the years, but they made the best life they could, surrounded by the love and support of family and friends.
Marvin worked many jobs throughout his life, including as a City of Tulsa bus driver, a security officer, and a maintenance man. But at age 51, he received the most important title of his life – Pa – with the adoption of his first granddaughter. Two more followed when he was 57 and 59. Being ‘Pa’ to all his girls was the highlight of his life.
Marvin began his walk with God in December of 1975 at Berryhill United Pentecostal Church under Rev. Orval Bryant – who would later introduce Marvin to his future bride. After their marriage, they attended several churches over the years, including Sperry UPC, Claremore UPC, and Collinsville UPC. In recent years, they attended Skiatook UPC until they moved to Owasso, where Marvin finished his race under Pastor Matt Garwick at Apostolic Worship Center. His love for God was unwavering.
His trust in the Lord was first solidified on the banks of the North Canadian River as a young 21-year-old man who could not swim. He went underwater and wasn’t found for nearly 30 minutes. Bro. Leo Hawthorn went back under, finally found him & pulled him to the bank. As the men prayed, after 30 minutes under water- Marvin suddenly opened his eyes and said, “Why did you bring me back? The flowers were so pretty.” From that moment on, whenever asked if he feared dying, he would simply reply, “Why would I?”
Marvin lived a life full of love, faith, and laughter. His legacy continues in the hearts of his wife, son, granddaughters & the family who cherished him.
He leaves behind his wife, Linda Sue(Dick) Pece, of the home; son, Timothy Pece and wife, Shalena of Owasso; granddaughters, Skylar Stevenson and husband Ashton of Owasso, Maci Pece, and Savanah Pece; mother, Ernestine Russel of Grove; brother, Richard Pece of Grove; sisters, Leash Nutter and husband, Donald of Grove, and Teresa Russel of Grove. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Anne Pece; father, Marvin Foster Pece, Sr.; brother, Kenneth Leroy Pece; and stepfather, Kennith Lloyd Russel.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
