Joyce Evelyn (Schiffbauer) Edwards

Joyce Evelyn Edwards, 88, of Sperry, OK, was born November 9, 1937, in Miami, OK, to Lawrence Norman Schiffbauer and Josephine Elizabeth (Fortner) Plummer. She passed away December 9, 2025, in Skiatook, OK.

Joyce married her love Jimmy Jackson Edwards on August 31, 1957, who promptly took her “hostage” to Michigan, where she worked as a domestic engineer and mother to every kid in the neighborhood, and bearing two “barely bearable children”, Kyle Ray and Barbara Leah. They presented her with 4 “delinquents” (grandchildren), who bestowed upon her 4 more “delinquents” (great-grandchildren). Despite all odds, Joyce was a wife, mother, and giver of everything for her entire life. Having aced that, Joyce decided to go into business, setting trends in the field of energy (Save-A-Dollar gas station). She was loved by all those she served (via the drive-thru window), and everyone who knew her. After conquering the business world, Joyce retired to her single-wide estate in Sperry but yearned for the big city life. So, she moved to Skiatook and lived with Barbara for a short time, where she peacefully passed away.

We love and miss you mom!

She is survived by her children, Kyle Edwards and Barbara Wessel; grandchildren, Jimmy Edwards, Jamie Wessel, Michael Edwards and Racheal Taylor; great-grandchildren, Ember, Agree, Opie and Willow; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jimmy Edwards; parents, Lawrence Schiffbauer and Josephine Plummer; sisters, Barbara Edwards, and Sharon Davis; and son-in-law, Keith Wessel.

Arrangements were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
