James was born November 28, 1929, in Milford, OH, to Joseph John Wessel and Mary Irene (Callahan) Wessel. He passed away May 25, 2025, in Skiatook, OK.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Jim served his country with honor before embarking on a successful professional journey. He began his career as a marketing director for Burtek and later relocated to Orlando, Florida, where he applied his talents in the aviation industry as an engineer. After the passing of his first wife of 39 years, Susan, Jim returned to Tulsa and pursued a new path, earning his real estate license. It was during this chapter of his life that he met and married his beloved wife, Sally. Together, they shared 25 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, faith, and community. Jim had a zest for adventure. He loved traveling in his trailer, setting out on cruises. In his younger years, Jim never missed a chance to hit the dance floor. Jim was a devoted member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Skiatook, where his faith was a guiding force in his life. He was also active with the Skiatook Senior Citizens group, where he enjoyed the fellowship during weekly lunches and gatherings. His joy for life, sense of humor, and kind spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
