Graveside memorial services for Irene (Harper) Rowden, 83, of Sperry, OK, were held Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Elder Connie Bias and Elder Charles Rowden officiated.

Irene was born October 11, 1942, in Fresno, CA, to Duane Simon Harper and Elizabeth Lou (Taylor) Harper. She passed away on May 9, 2026, in Collinsville. OK.

Irene’s mother passed away when she was only 2 years old. She was subsequently raised by her father and stepmother, Hazel. Irene attended Sperry Schools and graduated from Sperry in 1961 where she was named the football homecoming queen her senior year. After high school, Irene went on to work at First Bank of Turley for over 35 years as a teller, secretary and retired as an Executive Vice President. Irene enjoyed many hobbies, but her favorites were painting, reading and crocheting. Irene was raised in the RLDS church and attended frequently until her health declined. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandma.

She is survived by her daughter, Dena Rowden of Sand Springs; son, Duane Rowden of Sperry; grandson, Zachary Kern and wife, Loryn of Shidler; granddaughter, Kylee Helton of Sand Springs; brother-in-law, Charles Rowden and wife, Erma of Sperry; aunt, Linda (Harper) Bauhaus of Clinton, MO; uncle David Harper of St. Louis, MO; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Rowden; father, Duane Harper and wife, Hazel; mother, Elizabeth Harper; and sister, Ann Hammack.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
