Funeral services for Hubert Ray Bowers, 84, of Tulsa, were held on June 13, 2008 in the Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry. The Rev. Max Campbell officiated and a private family committal followed. He was born on Oct. 2, 1923 in Hagerman, Texas to William H. and Bertie (McElfresh) Bowers,
He passed away on June 11, 2008.He retired from McDonald Douglas. He was the owner of Ray's Auto Salvage, a car salesman and auto mechanic. He loved to hunt, fish, and go walking with his dog.
He never met a stranger, and would help anyone who needed him. He loved his family, and loved having family and friends over to visit. He was a wanderer, and loved to get in the car and drive and find new places to see. He liked to tell stories and share books that he read.
He is survived by his wife, Synita Bowers of the home; children, Shirley Davidson and husband David of Sand Springs, Mary Faulkner of Tulsa, Jimmy and Jeri Campbell of Tulsa, and Leslie Collins of Enid; grandchildren, Michele Faulkner of Tulsa,
Christa Erickson and husband Kevin of Sand Springs, Synita Faulkner of Tulsa, Kimberly Cook and husband Jerry of Tulsa, Tony Collins of Tulsa and Katlin Chilcoat of Enid; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Jen Horner of Coweta, Alta Kiriokos of Enid, Minnie Mineheart of Coweta, Darlene Eursery of Coweta and Velta Hill of Coweta; brothers, Joe Bowers of Owasso and Abb Bowers of Tulsa.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Henry Bowers Sr.; Mother, Bertie (McElfresh) Bowers; brothers, William Bowers Jr. and Raymond Thomas Bowers; grandson, David Andrew (Andy) Davidson; and step-great-grandson, Jacob Thomas Cook.
