Gilbert Anthony "Tony" Diaz

Funeral services for G. Anthony “Tony” Diaz, 73, of Tulsa, were held Friday, February 22, 2019 at Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church in Sperry, OK. Dr. Curtis Linton officiated, and burial was in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, OK.

Tony was born January 30, 1946 in Tulsa, OK to Gilbert Ochoa and Georgia Yvonne (Robinson) Diaz. He passed away February 15, 2019 in Oklahoma City, OK.

Tony had a zest for life. From an early age, he was on the go and ready for the next adventure.  He wrestled and played football in high school. He served his country in the Army which took him to Germany and South Korea. Once Tony left the Army, he worked for the post office until his retirement. He loved to hunt, golf, fish and take evening walks with his wife Debbie while she looked for dropped coins. He was a dedicated son, brother, husband, dad and “papa” to his family. Even with a blended family, the word “step” was never in his vocabulary. Once you are family, that’s all that mattered. If he called you “friend”, you can bet he would be there for you if you needed him.  Tony took the time to develop and nurture meaningful relationships and his kind heart and outward love for his family and friends is what made him special.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Gayle Diaz; children, Todd Diaz, Susan Beaty and husband, James, Jimmy Powers and wife, Caron; grandchildren, Debbie Reynolds, Ryan Hansche, Lillian Hansche, Jessa Powers, and Liam Powers; great-grandchild, Tatum Reynolds; sister, Marilyn Page and husband, Ron; his faithful dog, Dennis “the menace”; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Julia Romine-Diaz; parents, Gilbert O. and Georgia Y. Diaz; and sister, Deanna Sue Cline.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
