Funeral services for Dwain Leon Sullivan, 83, of Sperry, OK, were held Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Community of Christ Church in Sperry, OK. Elder Connie Bias officiated.
Dwain was born October 25, 1940, in Success, MO, to Marion Jefferson Sullivan and Rosa Wilma (Briggs) McQuin. He passed away June 23, 2024, in Sperry, OK.
Dwain married his wife, Linda, on December 17, 1961. They were married for 58 years until her passing on December 28, 2018. In this time, they had two children, Vicki Kay and Brian Leon Sullivan. Dwain served in the Army National Guard of Oklahoma for a total of six years when he was then honorably discharged, in August of 1967. Dwain then went on to spend several years managing grocery stores for Ed Wells of Wells Grocery Stores. He later took a job working for the Sperry Public School system as a custodian and bus driver and worked there for a total of 16 years before finally retiring. In his later years, Dwain discovered karaoke and immediately became a regular at the local diner where he sang. He also enjoyed his John Deere tractor where he spent countless hours digging out the pond at the family’s property and defining the shorelines as well as landscaping the orchard area. But his greatest passion has always been cars, whether he was watching the NASCAR races or cruising in his Richard Petty tribute car. Dwain and Linda were active members in multiple car clubs over the years and regularly participated in various car shows. Their home is full of trophies and plaques, many of which are for first place in their category.
He is survived by his son, Brian L. Sullivan and wife, Jackie of Sperry; grandchildren, Kelly Smith and wife, Cleora of Las Vegas, NV, Andrea Scott and husband, Robert of Beggs, Jessica Woody and husband, Joe of Tulsa, Brian J.
