Curtis Robert Holcomb, 88, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019. He is survived by his wife, Iva Jean Holcomb; sons, Kenneth L. Holcomb and wife Jan, Robert G. Holcomb and wife Cindy, and William Gary Holcomb. He is also survived by grandchildren, Laura Gardner husband Mike, and Ben Holcomb; 2 step-grandsons, Aaron and Jeremy, and their spouses of CA; 7 step-great-grandchildren of CA; siblings, Nan Mullins, Karen Clapp and Pat Holcomb; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Deward and Capitola Holcomb; and brothers Calvin, Tom, Milford and Alan.
Curt was a loving family man and consummate professional. And more than that, if you wanted something engineered, fixed, wine made, bees kept, produce grown or a tune played he was your man.
Curt was born September 18, 1930 in Olive, Oklahoma but grew up in Sperry, Oklahoma. There he met and married the love of his life, Jean Holcomb, on January 4, 1951.
After graduating from Sperry High School in 1948, he enlisted in the army, rising to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He was stationed in Germany for 9 months as part of a Howitzer artillery unit. Upon his return in 1953 to the states, Curt served in the Army Reserves for several years earning rank of Captain within the 45th Division National Guard Artillery at Fort Sill, OK.
Curtis returned to Skiatook, OK after serving his country abroad and took a position building heat exchangers at Yuba Heat Exchangers. While supporting his wife and three children and serving in the reserves, he attended the University of Tulsa where he completed a B.S. degree in Chemical engineering in 1964.
After holding several engineering positions with local companies, Curtis founded his own company, Industrial Computing in 1966. His engineering heat exchanger design capabilities were known around the world.
The funeral service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Sperry. A lunch will be served at 11 AM before the service. A viewing will be held Friday, May 3, 10 AM -7 PM at Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry. johnsonsperry.com.
