Christine Greta (Anderssen) Freeman

Christine Greta (Anderssen) Freeman was born April 11, 1933, in Detroit, MI, to Anders Olaf Anderssen and Violet Louise (Leland) Freeman. She passed away August 7, 2026, in Sperry, OK at the age of 93, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, achievement, and deep affection for her family.

Christine led a life marked by both accomplishment and service. Determined to reach the goals she set for herself, she earned an associate degree in finance, all while being a devoted mother to seven children—a testament to her resilience and spirit. Answering the call to serve her country, Christine proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where she served from September 1951 until December 1952. The discipline and commitment she exemplified in service continued throughout her life. Following her military service, Christine embarked on a professional career as a systems analyst in the banking industry. Her analytical mind and dedication to her work served as an inspiration to colleagues until her retirement. Outside of her career achievements, Christine enjoyed nurturing her garden, delighting in the beauty and peace it brought her. Most of all, deeply cherished the time she spent with her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Above all, Christine found her greatest joy in the company of her extensive family. Time spent with her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled her later years with happiness and pride, reflecting the foundational love and values she instilled in every generation.

She is survived by her daughters, Pat Johnson and husband Doug, Shirley Simmons and husband, Doug, Sue Miller and husband, Fred, Steve Freeman and wife, Rachel, and Mike Freeman and wife, Carolyn; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by husband, Virgil Freeman; daughter, Diane Whalen; son, David Freeman; and great-grandson, Ryder Herring.

Family, friends, and all whose lives Christine touched, gathered to pay their respects. A Rosary service was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Skiatook, OK, on August 14, 2026, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian burial with Father Kenneth Ihenacho officiating. Christine was laid to rest at Saint Therese Catholic Cemetery, in Collinsville, OK.

Christine’s life was defined by her perseverance, generosity, and enduring love for her family. Her memory will remain a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew her.
