Graveside services for Charles Eddie Griffith, 84, of Sperry, OK, were held Monday, July 27, 2020 at Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Reverend Monte Lovvorn officiated. Honorary casket bearers were Ashlyn King, Maggie Lokey, Amber King, Macee Lokey, Marissa Lokey, Drey Lokey and Luna Foster.
Charles was born January 2, 1936 in Sperry, OK to Chester Waverly and Mable Josephine (Hunt) Griffith. He joined his wife, Wilma in heaven on July 21, 2020 in Claremore, OK, with his granddaughter, Sandi and son, Alan by his side.
Charles was the second of nine children. He liked to fish, watch racing on TV and play dominoes with his friends at the roundtable. Charles always enjoyed the time spent at Flint Creek with his family. He babysat his granddaughter, Amber, until she was of school age. If anything were asked of Charles, he never told anyone no, and would give them the “shirt off his back”. Charles was an ornery, at times, gripey man, but he was a good man. He would read his bible and pray daily. At one time, Charles spent his time preaching on the streets of Tulsa, trying to win souls for the Lord
He is survived by his son, Alan Downing and wife, Nyla; grandchildren, Sandi King, Summer Lokey and husband, Michael, and Shyanne Downing; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Billie Griffith and wife, Debbie, Doris Jones and husband, Frank, Caroline Vester and husband, Dave, and Darlene West and husband, Kelly; numerous nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Blake Downing; brothers, Jimmy Griffith, and Ronnie Griffith; sister, Barbara Griffith; and parents, Chester and Mable Griffith.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
