C. J. Lafferty

C.J. Lafferty was born November 14, 1943, in Crandall, MS to J.J. Lafferty and Annie Mae (Buffington) Lafferty. He passed away on September 13, 2026, in Tulsa, OK at the age of 82.

C.J. was the youngest of eight children. He lived in Meridian, MS, before eventually making Oklahoma his home. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather who cherished his family and the time they shared together. C.J. proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard. During Hurricane Camille, he was called upon to assist with search, rescue, and recovery efforts, serving his community and fellow citizens during a time of great need. His willingness to serve others was a testament to his character and compassion.

He is survived by his daughter, Lora Underwood; grandchildren, Brock Underwood, Karli Underwood and Kayli Underwood; great-grandchildren, Ryder Underwood, Grant Underwood, and Gage Underwood; sister, Willodean Abston; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.J. Lafferty; mother, Annie Lafferty; and brothers, Bernice Lafferty, Aulbert Lafferty, James Lafferty, John Lafferty, Thomas Lafferty, and Buck Lafferty.

Private family services will take place at a later date.
