B. Joyce (Emerson) Dunn

Funeral Services for B. Joyce Emerson Dunn, 73, of Tulsa, were held Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the Fellowship Bible Church in Tulsa, OK. The Reverend Jack Carey officiated and burial was in the Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook, OK. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.

Joyce was born August 24, 1935 in Wewoka, OK to Yale and Dolores (Lauderback) Arnold. She passed away October 19, 2008 in Tulsa, OK.

Her first love was Christ Jesus, and she adored her husband of 13 years, Richard Dunn and her family. She graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1953. A homemaker by choice, she loved cooking for everyone and was always in search of the perfect homemade bread recipe. She loved her Bridge Club and volunteered as a Pink Lady at St. Francis Hospital. Joyce loved children and babies and was always involved in Church Vacation, Bible Schools and Summer Bible Camps. Her devotion to her children was evident through her volunteering as Cub Scout, Brownie and Girl Scout leader, and always involved in their sports teams. She was both a spiritual leader, and our friend. Her ability to love was enormous, not only for all the people that came to be her "Sons and Daughter", but for her many Dalmatian dogs who she knew as "people". She later served at the President of her Senior Sunday School class at Highland Park Christian Church. She cared for many sick and elderly family members until their passing. Her humor, laughter, love, joy, servant's heart and unbelievable strength is an inspiration to us all.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Dunn of Tulsa; son, Tom Emerson of Tulsa; daughter, Judy Caldwell and husband Ron of Tulsa; six beloved grandchildren, Jennifer, April, Mason, Natalie, Emily and Allison; step-children, Don Riker and wife Amy of Bixby, Walter Gough and wife Tricia of Bixby, Jim Gorrell and wife Cindy of Tulsa, brother, Bob Arnold of Dubois, WY; sister Evelyn Arnold of Dubois, WY, nieces, Pam Prather Carey of Wagoner, OK, Cheryl Potter of Billings, MT, Lila Edsall of Yukon, OK, and Nancy Ogle of Tulsa; nephew, Mark Arnold of Marietta, OH.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Emerson; parents, Yale and Dolores (Lauderback) Arnold; sister, Marilu Prather Lennart; and brother, Bill Arnold.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Christ for Humanity for the Joyce Emerson Dunn Memorial, 6314 E. 13th Street, Tulsa, OK 74112.
