Barbara Jean Akins

Funeral services for Barbara Jean Akins, 69, of Sperry, were held on Saturday April 12, 2008 in the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sperry.
The Rev. Charles Rowden officiated and burial was in the Rest Haven Cemetery at Sperry, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Sperry.
Pallbearers were Ryan Nixon, Eddie Blower, Gene King, Terry Toothman, Danny Earven and Jimmy Seago.
She was born on April 25, 1938 in Tulsa, to Ervin Leroy and Thelma Lee (Lunsford) McCarty. She died on April 9, 2008.
She retired from Texaco. Her major occupation was loving and taking care of her family.
She is survived her husband, Charles Edward Akins; daughters, Debbie King of Skiatook, and Regina Scott and husband Danny of Owasso; son, Floyd Scott, Jr. and wife Robbie of Broken Arrow; grandchildren, Brandi Nixon and husband Ryan, Amber Blower, Dustin Scott and Brooke Scott; great-grandchild, Seth Sweet; brothers, Carl McCarty and Ervin McCarty Jr.; sons-in-law: Gene King and Eddie Blower.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ervin McCarty; mother, Thelma McCarty; and sisters, Robbie McCarty and Irene Giles.
