Funeral services for Ward Christopher Herrington, 54, of Tulsa, were held Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Sperry Christian Church in Sperry, OK. Pastor Adam Stang officiated. Honorary casket bearers were Will Herrington, Ben Herrington, Jim Keithline, Gary Hughes, Greg Hughes, Shawn Cummins, Robert Morton, Jason Ney, Adam Hughes, Coby Hughes, Rick McVeigh, David Masterson, Dusty Thompson, Dennis Potter, Ernie Scocos, Jim Matthews, Joe Kirkland, Larry Walworth, Mark Gilbert, Tracy Sallee, Robert Pitts, Joel Hill, Frank Jackson, Eric Szalay, Jared Roberts and Leroy Blevins.

Ward was born July 8, 1964 in Kansas City, KS to Wilford Albert and Ida Mae (Brooks) Herrington. He passed away on the afternoon of August 4, 2018 in Tulsa, OK. God left the light on, and Ward followed the beam to Heaven.

Ward was an Eagle Scout and graduate of Tonganoxie High School in Tonganoxie, KS. He was a tireless worker and worked for National Waste and Disposal since 1996 where he was known by his work family as “Moose”. Ward would adopt every stray dog he came across. He also made the best ice cream sundaes. Ward enjoyed the outdoors, especially boating, skiing and four-wheeling. Ward loved his kids, 21 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He was so proud of his title of “Papa”. Ward loved attending his family reunions and always thought the bigger they were the better.

He is survived by his wife, Vicky Herrington of Tulsa; children, Joshua Herrington of St. Louis, MO, Jessica Moyers and husband Donnie of Aurora, CO, Gayle Groene and husband Robert of Sperry, Travis Clark of Sperry, Shelly Routen and husband Forrest, Sr. of Butler, MO, Trenton “TC” Austin of Sperry, and Glen Schnichels and wife Stacey of Ft. Scott, KS; grandchildren, D.J. Moyers, Lucas Moyers, Chrislyn Elizabeth Moyers, Donna Jo, Kimberlee, Taylor, Jared, Donovan, Braden, Autumn, Cheyenne, Crystal, Forrest, Jr., Gaige, Taegen, Braylon, Wyatt, Kyndal, Holly Crays and husband Dustin, Emily and Weston; great-grandchildren, Penny Lou, Chandler, Karlee, and Kaegen; father, Will Herrington of Tulsa; siblings, Ben Herrington and wife Gail of Tulsa, Karen Keithline and husband Jim of Tulsa, Ruth Seefeldt and husband Lyle of Tulsa, and Gail Ray and husband Loren of Austin, TX; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Herrington.
