Geary Lynn Phillips

July 23, 1944 ~ January 10, 2019 (age 74)

Funeral services for Geary Lynn Phillips, 74, of Collinsville, were held Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Current Church in Collinsville, OK. Pastor Jim Carney officiated, and burial was in Graceland Cemetery in Owasso, OK. Casket bearers were Roy Weathers, Carl Campbell, Mike Price, Kenneth Kinney, Gary Naugle, and Bobby Noble. Honorary casket bearers were Gunnar Phillips, Caden Weathers, Tanner Phillips, and Baylor Weathers.

Geary was born July 23, 1944 in Henryetta OK to Fred D. Phillips and Audie L (Millsap) Capps. He passed away January 10, 2019 in Collinsville, OK.

Geary joined the National guard while still attending high school in 1961. He later left the Guard for the United States Army Reserves where he received multiple honors and distinctions. Geary retired from the Army after 31 years in Nov of 1993 as an E-7 Drill Sargent. Geary worked for AEP/PSO for 39 years during most of his time in the military. He retired in March of 2016. Geary was a member of the VFW post in Collinsville and attended Current church in Collinsville His greatest accomplishments were his 2 children, Terry, and Amanda. Geary enjoyed spending time at Roaring River, fishing with his grandkids and cooking his favorite foods. If Geary wasn’t doing that, he was attending his grandkids sporting events, restoring vintage tractors and military vehicles, and collecting military memorabilia. Geary loved life and was happiest when he was with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Phillips of the home; daughter, Amanda Weathers and husband, Roy of Collinsville; daughter-in-law, Lori Phillips of Sand Springs; grandchildren, Gunnar, Tanner and Ella Phillips of Sand Springs, and Caden, Baylor, and Presley Weathers of Collinsville; sisters, Donna Blubaugh and husband, Steve of Medford, and Gayle Holman of Pendleton, OR; niece, Barbara Hudgins and husband Dana, of Sapulpa; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Phillips; father, Fred D. Phillips; mother, Audie L. Capps; and brothers, Fred Phillips and Don Phillips.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
