Cheryl Gay (Claxton) Agnew

Funeral services for Cheryl Gay (Claxton) Agnew, 65, of Skiatook, OK, were held Monday, January 20, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Pastor Steve Talburt officiated, and burial was in Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook, OK. Casket bearers were Dusty Agnew, James Perkins, Bo Baker, Kadah Ross, Joey Baker and Darrin Varnell. Honorary Casket bearers were Corbin Varnell and Colt Varnell.

Cheryl was born December 21, 1954 in Tulsa, OK, to William Bill and Helen Minnie (Talburt) Claxton. She passed away January 14, 2020 in Tulsa, OK.

Cheryl was the oldest of three children. She attended and graduated from Skiatook High School in 1973. Cheryl married Michael Agnew and they moved to Germany where their one and only child, Chastity was born. They then moved back to the United States, where they made their home in Skiatook. Cheryl worked for Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa. Cheryl later moved Terlton with her daughter and son-in-law and helped raise her grandchildren. Cheryl enjoyed watching Tennis, playing bingo, attending family game nights, and going to dinner with the family. She loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and school functions.

She is survived by her daughter, Chastity Varnell and husband, Darrin of Terlton; granddaughter, Lauren Baker and husband, Joey of Terlton; grandchildren, Corbin Varnell of Terlton and Colt Varnell of Terlton; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, William and Helen Claxton; sister, Elizabeth Claxton; and brother. William Claxton.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
