Billy Dean Smith of Sperry, OK. passed away Thursday August 24, 2017 at the age of 88.

Memorial Services for Billy Dean Smith, 88, of Sperry, were held Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Sperry, OK. Pastor Jerry Harper, Jr. officiated. Honorary Casket Bearers were Joe Smith, Anna Grose, Gerald Smith, David Smith and Jackie Carroll.

Billy was born January 13, 1929 in Littlefield, TX to Jessie Smith and Clyda Mae (Green) Hardesty. He passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 in Sperry, OK.

Billy loved his Betty Jo, to whom he was married to for 68 years. He was always so happy to see his grandbabies and he had plenty of them. He was a true Marine at heart and loved going to the farm in Locust Grove with all of his kids. We had so much fun going up there with him. He retired from American Airlines after giving them 33 years, of service. He was an avid dog lover and Anna doesn’t think that there was a project or an animal that Billy didn’t try his entrepreneur hand at. He owned Karate schools and instructed there as well. He loved his western shows and movies.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Smith of Sperry; grandchildren, Joe Smith of Sperry, Anna Grose of Sperry, Gerald Smith of Sperry, David Smith of Tulsa, and Jackie Carroll of TN; 17 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren and two more on the way, all of whom were very dear to him; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Baby Joey, and Billy Dea Smith; mother, Clyda Mae Hardesty; father, Jesse Smith; baby sister, Jacqueline Colleen; mother and father-in-law, Mae and Ralph Duncan; and step-father, James Hardesty.
