Alex Junior Thulin

March 22, 1929 ~ July 26, 2018 (age 89)

Funeral services for Alex Junior Thulin, 89, of Owasso, were held Monday, July 30, 2018 at North Point United Pentecostal Church in Sperry, OK. Pastor Kyle Holt officiated and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Coleton Thulin, Jay McAnally, Benjamin Thulin, Dustin Martin, James Bethel and Ryan Thulin.

Alex was born March 22, 1929 in Skiatook, OK to Alexander Edward and Mary (Allen) Thulin. He passed away July 26, 2018 in Owasso, OK.

Alex was a lifelong resident of Sperry, before he moved to Owasso. He was a meter reader for PSO and was an abatement officer for the city of Sand Springs for 20 years. Alex was also a bus driver for Tulsa Public Schools, a gas station attendant, worked in remodeling, worked in security, and was a farmer, tending to cows and the fields. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and going to cow sales. He liked animals of any kind. He also enjoyed spending time in Eureka Springs, and on the bank of the lakes in Jay, Oologah, Spavinaw and the Sand Springs Resorvoir, as well as the creek bank near his home. He thoroughly enjoyed getting together with his family; visiting and reminiscing.  He loved all children, especially his kids and Grandkids.  Alex started and pastored two churches; the Apostolic church in the Barnsdall 55 community, which later moved to Turley and the 1st Apostolic Church of Claremore.  He attended the Collinsville United Pentecostal Church for 11 years.

He is survived by his children, Doyle Thulin and wife Janet of Glenpool, Carolyn Kinney of Tulsa, Dollie Rogers of Owasso, Curtis Thulin and wife Christy of KY; Retha Jones and husband Ted of Chelsea and Hovey Thulin and wife Marilyn of Collinsville; sisters, Cornelius Jones of Chelsea; Mernie Copeland and husband Jearl of Hartshorne; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Thulin; grandson, Matt Thulin; brothers, Ed Thulin, Monroe Thulin, Milo “Bud” Thulin, Clay Thulin and Boyd Thulin; sisters Mary Piro and Corine Thulin; and parents, Alex, Sr. and Mary Thulin.
