Funeral services for Perry Burl Newman, 78, of Skiatook, were held Saturday, May 13, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Sperry, OK. Phillip Johnson officiated and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Butch Newman, Brad Newman, Glenn Newman, Derck Newman, Mike Newman and Mike Sharp. Honorary casket bearers were Perry W. Newman, Brian Newman, Bill Newman, Alfred Newman, Willie Newman and Herman Newman.

Perry Burl Newman was born May 18, 1938 in Woolum, AR to Fred and Eva Leona (Fox) Newman. He passed away May 5, 2017 in Skiatook, OK.

Perry was a master machinist for ICI Manufacturing for over 40 years, building seismic equipment that was used all over the world, primarily however, in Siberia. Perry was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Europe, France, Germany and Spain from 1957-1959 in the Transportation Corps. He was the also called back during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, serving at Fort Chaffee, AR in the supply field. Perry loved the outdoors, going hunting and fishing with his family. He was a devoted Christian and family man.

He is survived by his sons, Perry Newman and wife Angela of Sperry, and Brian Newman of Skiatook; daughter, Shari Bray of Tulsa; step-daughter, Connie Watson of MO; granddaughters, Ariel Newman of TX; Bailey Newman of Broken Arrow; grandson, Jason Patton of Tulsa; brothers, Bill Newman of AR; Alfred Newman of AR; Willie Newman of Oologah; Herman Newman of Terlton; sisters, Faye Fox, AR; Annie Mae Anderson, MO; as well as numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Newman; parents, Fred and Eva Newman; brothers, Ray Newman, Hobert Newman and Sherman Newman; twin sister, Pearl Newman; and grandson, Jerrod Patton.
